Zachary Lee Zimmerman - age 66 of Cainsville, MO passed away Saturday morning, May 30, 2026, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Zack was born on April 30, 1960, the son of Donald Lee and Susan Frances Bell (Brown) Zimmerman in Kansas City, MO. He was a 1978 graduate of Lathrop High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from January 29, 1980 until his honorable discharge on January 24, 1986. Zack was stationed in Hawaii, the Philippines, Japan and South Korea Zack was a welder by trade and worked at Allis- Chalmers/Agco, Western Forms and Shivers Manufacturing. Zack enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, looking for arrowheads, concerts, The Rolling Stones and Royals games. Zack was a Chevrolet Impala enthusiast and was proud of his red 1963 Impala. He was an excellent sharp shooter and clay pigeon shooter. Zack will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Zack was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ralph Zimmerman and Chris Zimmerman. He is survived by his sons, Lee Zimmerman of Kansas City, MO, Jake Zimmerman of Kansas City, MO, and Rufus Zimmerman (Maria) of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Bailey, Zachary, Andrew, Nathan, and Paulie; siblings, John Zimmerman (Trish) of Liberty, MO, Cass Zimmerman (Eve) of Smithville, MO, Jani Zimmerman of St. Pete Beach, FL, and Joshua Zimmerman of Gladstone, MO; and his aunt Janice Zimmerman of Independence, MO, nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the National Rifle Association in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Zack's life will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, June 5, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery, near Pleasanton, IA with Full Military Honors at approximately 2:30 PM.
