W. Bryan Johnson

W. Bryan Johnson, 88, of Lathrop, MO passed away Wednesday morning, February 3rd, 2021 in Chesterfield, MO.  Bryan was born in Villa Alemana, Chile on March 20th, 1932, the son of Alfred William and Elsie (Wichelow) Johnson.  He attended boarding school at The Grange School in Santiago, Chile and was a graduate of the Gimnasio Moderno secondary school in Bogotá, Colombia. Bryan attended Rice Institute in Texas and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Houston.  In 1959 he married Marlore Anwandter and together they raised three children. He began his business career in his family’s company, Frio-Lux Inc. in Chile, and then led the International Division of Hussmann Corporation from 1973 until his retirement in 1992.  Bryan’s career took the family to live in several countries, including Colombia, Mexico and Singapore. He traveled to almost every country in the world before settling in Lathrop, MO. Bryan enjoyed his work and valued the personal relationships that he built with colleagues around the world.

Bryan treasured his family above all. He liked sailing, playing golf, and supporting his wife in her musical endeavors. He was a member of the Lathrop United Methodist Church and active in the Clinton County Republican Club. Always willing to mentor others, Bryan was the ultimate gentleman and was loved and respected by all who met him. He will be dearly missed. 

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Audrey Wight and Marion Nichols. He is survived by his wife, Marlore; daughter Christine (Bruce) Litzsinger of Wildwood, MO, son Michael Johnson of Fenton, MO, daughter Carol (Jay) Maddick of Lathrop; grandchildren, Bryan Litzsigner of Richmond Virginia, Brandon Maddick of Charlotte, North Carolina, Isabel (Ryan) Merritt of Redwood, WA, and Andrea Litzsinger of Wildwood, MO. Other extended family members also survive, both in Chile and in the U.S. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at the Lathrop United Methodist Church in Lathrop, MO. Refreshments and visiting will follow the service at the church.
