Virginia L Owen, age 83, went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2024. She passed away peacefully at her home in Braymer, Missouri. Virginia was born on October 5, 1941, to parents Isaac “Ike” and Lorena (Hill) Fitzwater in Kansas City, Missouri.
Virginia graduated in 1959 from Braymer High School in Braymer Missouri. Soon afterwords she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she met the love of her life, Lynn Owen and the couple married on November 16, 1962. After a few years, they returned to Braymer and together they raised 4 children. During a few periods in her life, Virginia worked outside of the home with the most memorable time being when she and Lynn acquired and managed Owen Drug & Sundries. She took great pride in being able to continue the business that her mother, Lorena had owned which had been a staple of the Braymer community for many years. During that time, they were raising a young family and created many lasting memories for all.
Virginia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking, playing cards and afternoon coffee with friends. Perhaps one of the things she cherished the most over the past few years was seeing her grandkids and great grandkids and spending time in Bible study and with her daily devotions. Virginia truly loved the Lord and enjoyed the absolute confidence in her salvation through Grace.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her husband, Lynn Owen, her 4 children: Tonya Carlton, Mark (Julie) Owen, Mike (Christine) Owen, and Matt (Nicole) Owen; her 6 grandchildren: Bailey Whited, Dalton Owen, Mikayla Vogel, Tanner Owen, Katie Owen, and London Owen; 4 great-grandchildren: Landon Whited, Adeline Vogel, Oakley Whited, and Dean Vogel; her sister Peggy Mustain, and many much beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorena Evans and Isaac “Ike” Fitzwater, and her siblings, Delores Prewitt, Dale Fitzwater, and Lois Cox.
Virginia’s warmth, generosity and loving spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
