Velma M. Watson - age 86 of Braymer, MO and formerly of Gallatin passed away Saturday , April 12, 2025,at her home in Braymer. Velma was born on May 28, 1938, the daughter of Homer Earl and Opal (Wilson) Cecil in Winston, MO. She was a 1956 graduate of Gallatin High School. She married David Watson on December 22, 1956. Velma was a dedicated and longtime employee of Hamilton and Gallatin MFA where farmers and employees respected her bookkeeping skills. She was a dedicated employee with a great work ethic. You always knew where you stood with Velma. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events and activities. Later in their retired years Velma and David enjoyed trips to the casino. Velma will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; infant son, Barry Keith Watson; siblings, Virginia Lampkin and Daniel Cecil. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Watson of Braymer, MO and Robert Scott Watson (Kathy) of Joplin, MO; grandchildren, Elise Stieferman (Connor) of St. Louis, MO, Emily Reynolds (Drew) of Joplin, MO, and Sadie Watson (Trevor Gibson) of Braymer, MO; four great-grandchildren, Calvin, Peyton, Barrett, and Skyler; nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hillcrest Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gallatin.
