Troy Smith - age 72 of Jamesport, MO passed away Sunday evening, October 27, 2024, at his home east of Jamesport. Troy was born on March 20, 1952, the son of Homer and Ilah (Walker) Smith in Jamesport. He was a 1970 graduate of Tri-County High School. Troy obtained an associate’s degree in ag business from Trenton Junior College. Troy worked for Farmers Produce and Reed Seeds in Jamesport. He later worked for Hoffman & Reed and GFG Ag Service (later becoming Consumers CO-OP) in Trenton, where he retired as a manager and consultant. Troy was involved with local 4H and with the Green Hills Horse Show Circuit. He married Nancy Henderson on May 21st, 1972, at the Jamesport Baptist Church. Troy was a longtime member of the Jamesport Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved Christ, his family, bird hunting, horses, cattle, purple martins and being outdoors. Troy did not love groundhogs. He also loved his tractor "Casey". Troy was a responsible, persistent, and gentle man. Troy will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Jack Harris. He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; sons, Darby Smith (Holly) of Kearney, MO and Evan Smith (Star) of Jamesport, MO;14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchild and 2 on the way; siblings, Majiel Ureich of St. Charles, MO, Patricia Cunningham (Ron) of Raymore, MO, Max Smith (Kathy) of Chillicothe, MO, Tina Leon (Nestor) of Pleasant Valley, MO and Gaylene (Kevin) Smith of Kansas City; other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jamesport Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Troy's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Jamesport Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 AM, Saturday, also at the church. Friends may sign the register book from 10 AM to 4 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
