Thomas F. McWilliams, age 95, lifelong resident of Gallatin, MO, passed away Monday afternoon, June 23rd, 2025, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO. Tommy was born on June 22nd, 1930, the son of Roy and Mary (O’Toole) McWilliams. Tom was a 1948 graduate of Gallatin High School and following high school he served in the United States Army. On June 11th, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lenora Warden in Liberty, MO. She preceded him in death on March 16th, 2018.
Tommy owned and operated McWilliams Oil Company and partnered with R.L. Trimm where they operated Trimm-McWilliams DX for many years. He also owned and operated Culver and McWilliams Oil Company. He later owned McWilliams Trucking with his son, David, for 15 years where they travelled all over the United States. During that time his
fulltime job was working for the US Post Office, retiring in 1986.
Tom was community minded and active in several organizations. He was a longtime member of the Gallatin First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #106 in Gallatin and the American Legion. He also was a board member of Hillcrest Cemetery, Active Aging Resource Center, Green Hills Senior Citizens Council and was a volunteer firefighter. Tommy was always eager to help a friend.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lenora and brother, Bill McWilliams. He is survived by his children: David and his wife Deanna McWilliams of Kansas City, Don McWilliams of Gallatin and Jean Ann McWilliams of Excelsior Springs, MO; granddaughter, Christy Hunt of Kansas City; nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hillcrest Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 27, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call from 11 AM to 5 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gallatin.
