Thelma Gail Burris Obituary

Thelma “Gail” Burris - age 82 of Cameron, MO formerly of Lexington, KY passed away while surrounded by family on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron. 

Gail was born on May 25, 1943, the daughter of Harold Adelbert and Vivian Eugene Jeanette (Wood) Grob in Lexington, KY . She grew up in Lexington, KY and attended Henry Clay High School. Gail received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Midway College in Midway, KY. She married Phillip Burris on September 12, 1970. 

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Walgreens for 15 years where she was in charge of the Hallmark Division for Lexington. She volunteered with the Red Cross, preparing care packages for service members as well as serving on the emergency response team, providing aid for victims of natural disasters. Gail was a member of Fellowship Worship Center in Cameron, MO.. 

Gail was known by all as a caring friend and devoted mother. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, baking, and church activities. 

Gail was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepson, Michael Day; grandson, Curtis Seabolt, and her brother, Albert Grob. She is survived by her  children, Ronald (Ed) Seabolt (Donna) of Cameron, MO, Tresa Boydston (Kevin) of Platte City, MO, Heidi Mick (Kelsey) of Liberty, MO, Charles Hanson of Berry, KY, Jean (Eleiren) Bowen of Albuquerque, NM, James Burris (Rhonda) of Winchester, KY, Sarah Clark (Jim) of Savannah, GA, stepchildren, Roberta Hanson of Portland, OR, Marc Hanson of Platte City, MO, Clint Stephenson (Clara) of Independence, Marla Hanson of Platte City, MO, Alan Hanson (Karen) of Platte City, MO, Phillip Stephenson (Rita) of Kansas City, MO, Keith Stephenson (Heather) of Raytown, MO, and James Stephenson (Michelle) of Belton, MO; 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Fellowship Worship Center (https://fellowshipworship.churchcenter.com/giving/to/burris-memorial) The family will hold a celebration of life at 2pm-5pm on July 26th at Fellowship Worship Center in Cameron and a graveside service in Kentucky in September.
