Susie Walton Obituary

 

Susie Walton -age 79 of Gallatin, MO and formerly of Altamont, MO passed away Monday night, March 23rd, 2020 at Northland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Kansas City, MO.  Mary Suzanne Barker was born May 1st, 1940 the oldest twin daughter of Lynn and Katharine (Rankin) Barker in Kansas City, MO.  Susie was raised in Shenandoah, IA until the family moved to the Barker family farm near Altamont in 1947.  She attended Altamont school until attending Gallatin High School and graduating in 1958.  The Altamont school kids were a family and remain close to this day.  On January 4th, 1959 Susie was united in marriage to Charles Conrad “Connie” Walton at the Altamont United Methodist Church.  Susie and Connie lived in Unionville, King City and Albany before returning to Altamont and Gallatin.  She was a homemaker and cleaned homes with her twin sister, Francie in Altamont, Lake Viking and Gallatin.  Susie and Francie were very well known for their cooking and pie baking. She loved horses and enjoyed riding Dixie and Queeny. Susie enjoyed going on walks with her beloved dog companion, Daisy.  She liked flowers, enjoyed cleaning and going to the beauty shop.  Family and her church were very important for her.  Susie was a lifelong member of the Altamont United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for the “little people” for 50 years and rang the church bell on Sunday mornings. Susie will be dearly missed. 

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Connie.  Survivors: daughter, Laurie (David) Roll of Gallatin; son, Eddie (Julianne) Walton of Trenton; twin sister, Francie (Jack) Toney of Gallatin; sister, Judy Gingerich of Holt; grandson, Cody Walton of Trenton; grandson, Ethan (Anna) Walton of St. Louis; granddaughter, Arianna Walton of Excelsior Springs; granddaughter, Briar Roll of Gallatin; 3 step grandsons; 2 great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Altamont United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home. Private family services. There is no scheduled visitation. Memorial services for Connie and Susie will be announced at a later date.  Friends may call 9 AM to 5 PM, Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin. Due to restrictions in place by the State of Missouri, no more than 10 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time.  Burial: Mt. Ayr Cemetery, Altamont.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin, MO. You may offer condolences and sign the register book at www.stithfamilyfunerals.com
