Shirley Louise Simpson - age 62 of Kingston, MO, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 18th, 2021 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO. Shirley was born on February 26th, 1958 the daughter of Nova Dale Glidewell and Wanda Joyce (Thomas) Glidewell in St. Joseph, MO. She grew up in St. Joseph and Savannah and attended Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. In 1992 she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Simpson in Ray County, MO. Shirley had lived the last 28 years in rural Kingston. She worked in retail sales at Casey's, Trex Mart and Walmart. Shirley enjoyed spending quality time with her family playing spades, yahtzee and going to the boat. She was also a pool shooting competitor and a NFL football fan. Shirley was known for coloring and creating pictures for the family. She especially enjoyed the Fourth of July and having family over for Christmas. She will be dearly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Eddie Joe Glidewell and Matthew Todd Glidewell. Survivors include husband, Thomas Simpson of the home; children: Dana D. (David) Caselman of Kidder, Robert J. (Patricia) Bowman of Excelsior Springs and Sara L. Fugere of Excelsior Springs; siblings: Edie (Kevin) Buckner of Strafford, Kimberly (Sean) Schmidt of St Joseph, Kevin (Mary) Glidewell of Topeka; grandchildren: Tayler, Kaytie, Robert, Aaron, Skylor, and Jazmaine; great grandchildren: Timberlyn and Noah. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Stith Family Funeral Home to help with final expenses. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, March 5th, 2021, at Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo. The visitation is scheduled for one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
