Shirley Smith

Shirley (Calhoon) Smith - age 87 of Gallatin, MO passed away Friday afternoon, July 2nd, 2021 at her home. Shirley was born on March 23rd, 1934 the daughter of Clifford Carol and Nellie Mae (Blythe) Calhoon in Cameron, MO.  She grew up in Gallatin and attended school there.  On August 29th, 1951 she was united in marriage to Frank Smith in Gallatin. To this union three sons were born. She was baptized on March 23rd, 1967. Shirley obtained her LPN from Trenton Junior College in 1974.  Shirley worked as a nurse’s aid at the nursing home in Gallatin for several years. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; siblings, Virginia Stephens, Raymond Calhoon and Mary Lou Drummond.  Survivors include her sons, Danny (Kim) Smith, Kenny (Sharon) Smith and Donnie (Karyn) Smith all of Gallatin; sister, Carol Moore of Hamilton; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Active Aging Resource Center in care of the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 at Winston Cemetery, Winston, MO. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM, the evening prior (Tuesday) at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. Friends may call after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
