Sherry S. Simmons

Sherry S. Simmons - age 89 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Sherry was born on October 9, 1936, the daughter of Ralph  and Mirth (Barton) Easten in Mountain Grove, MO, where she grew up and graduated high school. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri - Columbia. It was MU that she met Donald D. Simmons and they were married on June 2, 1962. She later obtained a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Kansas. In addition to being a dedicated nurse she taught nursing at Graceland University. Sherry was a member of the Unitarian Church in Lee's Summit. 

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald D. Simmons and sisters, Beverly June Atterbury and Billie Dawn Douglas. She is survived by two sons, Bill Simmons (Eva) of Polo, MO and Donald Steven Simmons (Charity) of Independence, MO; grandchildren: Samantha Simmons of Independence, MO, Joe Simmons of Independence, MO, Chris Fletcher (Kristy) of Paola, KS, and Morgan Simmons (Tomi) of Kingston, MO and great-grandchildren: Gage, Riley, Tyler, and Zoey.
