Sharon F. Smith

Sharon F. Smith - age 74 of Polo, MO and formerly of Kingston and Cowgill, MO passed away Monday afternoon, February 15th, 2021 at Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron, MO. Sharon was born on October 17th, 1946 the daughter of Francis Dixon and Susan Viola (Boone) Higgins in St. Joseph, MO.  She was a graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph. On November 10th, 1967 she was united in marriage to Darrell Gene Smith. Sharon worked for Midwest Glove in Hamilton, MO and Whittaker Cable.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Polo and served on the Caldwell County Nutrition Center Board.  Faith and family were especially important to her.  The will of the Lord was also important to Sharon. She took comfort in reading the book of Psalms and enjoyed quilting.  She will be dearly missed. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; brother, Gary Higgins and infant daughter, Penelope. Survivors include daughter, Jennifer Smith of Cowgill; siblings, Andrea Sutherland of Parkville, Carol Helean of St. Joseph, Donna (Bill) Dunn of Savannah, Loren (Marsha) Higgins of Springfield, Forrest (Mary) Higgins of Kansas; grandchildren: Camillia (Stephen) Brashear of Kansas City, Holly Leeper of Cowgill, Jay Leeper Jr. of Cowgill, Rosemary Leeper of Cowgill; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Elizabeth and Parker Brashear; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Caldwell County Nutrition Center in care of the funeral home. Funeral service: 2 PM, Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Polo.  Visitation: one-hour prior to the service at the church (1 PM). Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM to 5 PM, Monday. Burial: Cowgill Cemetery, Cowgill, MO. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Family Funeral Home, Polo.
