Scott L. Janeczko Obituary

Scott L. Janeczko- age 51 of Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 4th, 2020 at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO. Scott was born on August 23rd, 1968 the son of Frank L. and Loraine (Whitesell) Janeczko at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.  He grew up in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. Scott was a 1986 graduate of Oak Park High School.  He obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg in 1990. On March 23rd, 1991 he was united in marriage to Christy Freeze at Gashland Baptist Church.  Scott obtained a master’s degree in business from Rockhurst University in 2002.  He was an operations manager for Horizon Logistics, handling intermodal freight.  In addition to Kansas City he had lived and worked in Iowa, Chicago and Memphis, TN.  Scott was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.  He coached Pop Warner youth football for ten years and was very active in his daughter Catie’s sports activities.  He loved sports of all kinds.  Scott was a handyman around the house and an internet car mechanic.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, football and curling.  Scott had the ability to remember every person he met and every circumstance in his life.  He was a jokester that had a sarcastic sense of humor that could lighten a room.  No matter what, Scott always seemed to end up dancing.  Scott always took care of Christy and Catie.  He was always willing to help anyone in need.  He will be dearly missed and forever remember.

Scott was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank T. and Evelyn R. Janeczko and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Dessie Whitesell. Survivors include: father, Frank L. (Linda) Janeczko of Quincy, MO; mother, Loraine Bird of Riverside, MO; wife, Christy of the home; daughter, Catie of the home; sister, Jami (Josh) Collins, nephew Jack of Parkville, MO; sister, Amy (Mike) Guyett of Chillicothe, MO; nieces, Mady, Paige, Brooklyn and Jozlyn all of Chillicothe; niece, Kaylee (Brandon) Thomas of Grain Valley, MO; great niece, Brittley, several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family also survive. 

Memorial Contributions are suggested to Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) KC Metro in care of the funeral home.   Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 8th, 2020, St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Gladstone, MO. Visitation: 6 to 8 PM, Friday, the evening prior (8/7/20) also at the church. Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Due to local mandates, masks and social distancing will be required at all events. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.
