Sam Conner, age 63, of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 12th, 2020 at his home surrounded by loving family. Sam was born on March 22nd, 1957 the son of William Sr. and Margaret (Sharp) Conner in Grove, OK. He grew up in Jay, Ok and was a 1975 graduate of William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. On December 18th, 1982 Sam was united in marriage to Regina Griffin at Faith Lutheran Church in Richmond, MO. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was an enrolled member of the Cherokee, Quapaw and Seneca Tribes. Sam was an elder of the Indian Community. He was a carpenter and a man that would help you fix anything. Sam had a big heart and had a purpose in all that he did. Sam often gave guidance and advice to loved ones and friends. His laugh would fill a room and he had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed movies and quoting old movies. Sam was a collector and an artist. He made jewelry, carvings and paintings. He was a great writer of poetry. Sam was a self-educated man and lover of music. Sam could spend hours at an antique mall or thrift store. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his father; brother, Allen Conner; brother, Robert Conner; brother, William “Big Bill” Conner, Jr.; brother, Ebenezer “Ross” Conner; sister, Pat Conner sister, Collean Conner; sister, Bernice Conner; daughter, Christy Conner. Survivors: mother, Margaret Bowling; wife, Regina of the home; brother, William Jr. and wife Cheryl Conner of Independence, MO; sister, Margie Bartlemas of Middleton, California; daughter, Cindy Prichard of Independence; son, Chris Conner of Independence; daughter, Kimberly and husband Kris Tanskanen of Independence, MO; daughter, Melissa and husband Chris Garrett of Gladstone; grandchildren: Erin, Nick, Conner, Samantha, Mitchell, Samantha, Abegail, Emily, Daniel, Olivia, Dio, Aiyana, Tracey; great-grandchildren: Mason, Oliver, and Aliyah; Nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family also survive.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethel Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Funeral Service: 2 PM, Saturday, July 18, 2020, Stith Family Funeral Home, Polo, MO.
