Robert "Bob" L. Collins - age 84 of Gallatin, MO passed away Tuesday evening, February 4, 2025, at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin. Bob was born on April 26, 1940, the son of William Ellsworth and Lorene (Harper) Collins in Trenton, MO. He grew up in Gallatin and attended Hickory and Gallatin schools. He married Sharron Hill on August 31st, 1957 and to this union 5 children were born. He later married Sandra Beck. He learned the value of hard work at an early age when he began delivering newspapers in Gallatin and briefly worked at a gas station. In 1964, Bob began a dedicated career at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2000. He was a hard worker and hardly ever missed work. He received an award from Ford Motor Company for improving the efficiency of a tool used in manufacturing. In his early years he liked to fish and hunt. He enjoyed raising cattle, putting up hay and doing farm work; he was proud of his farm. He always had a nick name for people. Bob will be dearly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sandra Beck; son, Rob Collins; the mother of his children, Sharron (Hill) Collins-Jones; 7 siblings, Gladys, Alfred, Mary, Raymond, Lois, May and Fay. He is survived by his children, Teresa Iddings (David) of Coffey, MO, Julie Holcomb of Jameson, MO, Dennis Collins of Gallatin, MO and Michelle Anderson (Jason) of League City, TX; stepchildren, Rob Beck, Dave Beck, Kelly Beck, and Lori Brown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Crab Orchard Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Bob's life will be held at Noon, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call from 11 AM to 5 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crab Orchard Cemetery, Gallatin. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin (660) 663-2117.
