Richard "Tom" Andersen Jr.

Richard "Tom" Andersen Jr.,  age 83 of Lawson, MO passed away Tuesday morning, September 1st, 2020 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO. Tom was born on June 20th, 1937 the son of Richard Thomas and Lillian (Young) Andersen in Salt Lake City, UT.  He was a 1955 graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City.  Tom served in the United State Marine Corps from November 28th, 1955 until his honorable discharge on November 26th, 1958.  On March 21st, 1959 he was united in marriage to Nina McKean in Salt Lake City.  Tom was a professional wrestler for 25 years. He was a member of the National Wrestlers Association and Cauliflower Alley Club Hall of Fame.  In 1975, Tom and Nina made their home in Lawson.  He worked in maintenance for the Lawson School District for 21 years until his retirement in 2002. Tom was a member of the Beehive Masonic Lodge in Lawson.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making people laugh.  Tom could always make people smile and he was full of stories.  He was a great and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.  Tom had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone in need.  He was a very hard worker. Tom will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.    

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Feldman. Survivors: wife, Nina of the home: son, Thomas “Mac” Andersen and his wife, Shelley of Lawson; son, Timothy “Mitch” Andersen of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren: Gavin, Zachary, Chase, Caden, Mackenzie, Cameron and Madison; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family also survive.      

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Lawson Booster Club in care of the funeral home.
