Randall W. Day, Sr. - age 67 of Polo, MO passed away Friday afternoon, January 3rd, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. Randy was born on September 17th, 1957, the son of Charles William and Alberta (Davis) Day in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in St. Joseph, and attended Central High School. He was a 1975 graduate of Union Star High School. On December 19th, 1975 he was united in marriage to Brenda Coffey in Union Star. Randy received an Associate of Science degree at Missouri Western State University, and later a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Park University. Randy was a dedicated servant of the Kansas City Police Department, retiring as a sergeant after 26 years of service; 29yrs total in law enforcement. He was a hard worker, always providing for his family. Randy was ornery and loved making jokes. He enjoyed camping, fishing, deer hunting and cross word puzzles. He liked watching westerns and sci-fi movies. Randy will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his wife Brenda; his parents Charles and Alberta Day, and his siblings, Charles Day and Mary Catherine Day. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Burnfin (Grant) of Kansas City, MO and Randall Day Jr. (Melissa) of Smithville, MO; grandchildren, Blake Burnfin of Kansas City, MO, Ayla Burnfin of Kansas City, MO, and Connor Day of Smithville, MO; siblings, Judy Ingram (Richard) of Kansas City, MO and Ken Day of Polo, MO; nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Zimmerman Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Randy's life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Polo. The family will begin receiving friends one-hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Zimmerman Cemetery with only immediate family present due to location and space. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Polo (660) 354-2214.
