Obituary

Policarpo "Paul" "Carpio" Oliva - age 63 of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away Sunday morning, July 2, 2023, at home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Paul was born on May 30, 1960, the son of Joseph Alvarez and Guadalupe Oliva in Kansas City, MO. He grew up in Kansas City and was a 1978 graduate of Lillis High School. He married Jerri Mann on March 31st, 1984, at the First Christian Church in Independence. They made their home and raised a family in Excelsior Springs.  Paul was a member of St James Catholic Church in Kansas City and Woods Memorial Christian Church in Excelsior Springs. He was a printer by trade. Paul worked at Midtown Press, Lowell Press, Constable Hodges and Grey Stone Graphics. He was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved watching them every Sunday surrounded by his family. Paul never knew a stranger and gave everyone a hard time. You could run into him at subway, k-9 clips, downtown, or just about any local business. He was always at all the school events and was like a secondary dad to many. However, becoming a Papa was his greatest life adventure. Paul will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his biological parents; mom and dad, Ramona and Manuel Aquino; grandmother, Julia Borjon; grandchild, Marley Oliva; uncle, Ricky Borjon, and Joseph Alvarez. He is survived by his wife of 39 years,  Jerri of Excelsior Springs, MO; children, Amanda Hawkins (Bill) of Excelsior Springs, MO, Policarpo "Carpio" Oliva II (Whitney) of Excelsior Springs, MO, Shannon Rippe (Michael) of Liberty, MO; grandchildren, Brackett, Maelyn, Cole, Ellie, and Sam; God children, Manuel Aquino III, Marissa Aquino, Josephine Hogue and too many other nieces, nephews and God children to mention; siblings, Maria Trinder (Tom), Debbie Ashley (Rodney), Rachel Flores (John), Manuel Aquino II (Lisa), Susie Moran (Armando), and Steve Aquino (Bernadette); aunts, Rosie Briseno, Jessie (John) Cunningham, Juanita (Tom) Rhodus, and Carmella Armenta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children or to Jerri Oliva to be used for his grandchildren's education in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 8th, 2023, at Flack Memorial Christian Church, Excelsior Springs, MO (1300 Tracy Ave. Excelsior Springs, MO 64024).
