Oliver Lawrence “Larry” Alcorn - age 75 of Holt, MO passed away Sunday afternoon, March 22nd, 2020 at his home. Larry was born on January 31st, 1945 the son of Oliver Lyle and Elizabeth Anne (Berscht) in Santa Barbara, CA. He graduated high school in Santa Barbara, CA and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in education. Larry served the United States in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. Larry taught 4th and 5th grade and then became a full-time substitute teacher. He was respected by his students. In 1992 he was united in marriage to Mary Kelly Hiett in Santa Barbara. Larry was heavily involved in the United States Equestrian Federation, where is served as a judge for 50 years and on various committees. He was also a member of the United States Hunter Jumper Association. Larry managed horse shows all around the Midwest, including the Delmar Nationals. He loved horses and trained them for over 50 years. Larry loved to build stuff, especially equipment for horse shows. He enjoyed collecting western artwork. He had a love for fishing that was unending. Larry was amazingly calm natured, and his nickname was “Dancing Bear”. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Alcorn was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: wife, Kelly of the home; brother, Ernie (Donna) Alcorn of Santa Barbara; brother, Greg (Becky) Alcorn of Maryland.
