Norman "Joe" DeWayne Stottlemyre - age 86 of Lathrop, MO passed away Tuesday morning, November 9th, 2021, at home in Lathrop. He was born October 22, 1935 in Spickard, Missouri, a son of Oakley and Dorothy Irene May (Kincade) Stottlemyre. Norman was baptized at a young age. He grew up in the Trenton, MO area and graduated from Galt High School in 1953. He married Mary Jane "Jenny" Madrid on March 25, 1961 in Miami, OK. They lived in the Mirabile area for 47 years before moving to Lathrop. Norman served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge on August 31st, 1964. He worked for General Motors in the Leeds District of Kansas City MO for 30 years. Norman loved gardening of all kinds, flowers, woodworking, visiting with people and was a great mechanic. Children and animals were drawn to him. He loved the water and spending time at Crowder State Park. He loved God and his family above all other things.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, JL Stottlemyre, Beverly Schmidt, and Nora Faye Danks and one son-in-law, Jeff Happold; He is survived by his wife Mary Jane "Jenny" Stottlemyre of Lathrop, MO; four children, Patricia Maier (Stephen) of Polo, MO, Norma J Stransky of Lathrop, MO, Pepper South of Grand Island, NE, and David DeWayne Stottlemyre of Cameron, MO; seven grandchildren, Matthew, James, Joseph, Nikita, Rita, Levi, and Alexis; eleven great-grandchildren, Mark, Lacy, Skylar, Baylee, Easton, Dustin, Benjamin, Zoey, Mila, Myah and one great-grandchild on the way; one brother, Kenny Stottlemyre (Glenda) of Wayne City, IL.; other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at the Assembly of God Church in Lathrop. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM the evening prior at Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop. Burial with full military honors will follow the services at Prairie Ridge Cemetery west of Polo.
