Nettie "Fran" Gentry - age 75 of Gallatin, MO passed away Thursday afternoon, September 30th, 2021 at her home. Fran was born on February 28th, 1946 the daughter of Willie C. and Mildred Irene (Grimes) Gardner in Trenton, MO. She grew up in Shenandoah, IA and attended school there. Early in life she worked at A & W in Shenandoah as a car hop and several other restaurants as a waitress and cook, before obtaining CNA and CMA licensure and working in the medical field. On June 16th, 1967 she was united in marriage to Robert Harvey Gentry in Shenandoah, IA. Fran worked for the state of Oregon most of her career as a staffing coordinator, before retiring in February of 2001. Fran was a member of the First Christian Church in Gallatin and later Cameron. She was also a member of Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was giving and always placed the needs of others before her own. Fran was a very thoughtful person. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts and cooking. Fran will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; brother, William Gardner and sisters, Lorene Rasmussen and Evelyn Harrald. Survivors include: son, Danny (Ann) Gentry of Currituck, NC; siblings, Emma (David) Riley of Essex, IA, Lavena Smith of Gallatin, Tressia Houston of Plainville, KS, Mary Guerin of Ocala, FL, Doris Johnson of Tarkio, Linda (Jay) Cabella of Ft. Myer, FL, Vickie (Dennis) McMorran of North Liberty, IA, Bill (Mary) Gardner of Seattle, WA and Larry (Vicki) Gardner of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Andrew Gentry of Currituck, NC and Elizabeth Gentry of Poquoson, VA ; great-grandchild, Kian McCaffity; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church in Cameron, MO in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 7th, 2021 at the First Christian Church in Cameron. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM, the evening prior (Wednesday 10/6) at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 AM Wednesday.
