Obituary

Myron Walter Mackey, age 91, went to be with his Lord on Monday, September 21st, 2020, after a long struggle with multiple health issues.  No services at this time due to Covid-19.
Myron was born on June 8th, 1929 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Walter and Tillie (Meyerson) Mackey.  He grew up alternating between Flint and the family farm in Aitkin, Minnesota.  Myron was baptized into and attended the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years.  He went into the Army at age 17 and served as an Honor Guard for General MacArthur in Japan shortly after WWII.  Myron married Beverlee Ann Stone in 1951 in Angola, Indiana.

Myron was an excellent carpenter and woodworker, a skill passed down from his grandfather, Gustav Meyerson.   He later earned his GED and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Police Administration.  Myron worked for General Motors in several capacities including as a welder in the Grand Blanc Tank plant during the Korean War.  He later worked many years in Plant Protection for the Fisher Body Division in Flint, retiring as a Sergeant.  Myron was co-owner with his 3 sons in MBR Precision Balancing in Flint, specializing in the balancing of racing engines.  After retirement, Myron moved to Altamont, Missouri, where he and Beverlee raised Quarter Horses.

Myron is survived by, and sorely missed by, his sons, Bruce (Elaine) Mackey and Kevin (Donna Francek) Mackey; his close friend and longtime companion, Connie Gibson; 8 grandchildren, Heather (Owen Koski), Rachel, Erin, Shannon, Sarah, Emma, Gavin and Cullen and one great-granddaughter, Liara.  Myron was preceded in death by his wife, Beverlee; son, Brian Mackey and his daughter, Kari Mackey Zink.  We miss him.
