Melodie Lynn Tague Obituary

Melodie Lynn Tague - age 62 of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, February 7, 2026, surrounded by family at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, after a courageous and fierce 21 month battle with breast cancer. Lynn was born on January 19, 1964, the daughter of Claude Duane and Linda Marie (Pieart) Terpenning in Des Moines, IA. She grew up in West Des Moines, IA, and was a 1982 graduate of Valley High School where she excelled in track and was a baton twirler. Lynn furthered her education at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Business. She was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, IA.

It was at Maryville where she met Mark Tague and the two were married on June 27th, 1987, in West Des Moines, IA. They made their home in West Des Moines and raised their daughter there before moving to Lee's Summit 3 years ago. Lynn had a successful career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a Senior Product Manager.

Lynn was a vibrant and positive person. To know Lynn was to love Lynn. She was capable of creating genuine conversations. Lynn was kind to everyone; a gentle and selfless soul. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was extremely creative and crafty. Lynn made beautiful handmade cards. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and knitting. Lynn was a huge Taylor Swift Fan and a Jimmy Buffett "Parrothead." Lynn was a member of the Iowa Order of the Eastern Star and was the State Worthy Grand Matron in 2015. Lynn Loved her dogs and a high quality margarita. Lynn will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  

Lynn is survived by her parents, Duane and Linda of Pittsburgh, PA; husband, Mark of the home; daughter, Jessica Power (Ben) of Kansas City, MO; siblings, Kelli Terpenning of Pittsburgh, PA and Scott Terpenning (Marcy) of Pittsburgh, PA; nieces, nephews and other extended family members and many friends also survive.  

Flowers are appreciated and memorial contributions are suggested to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in care of the funeral home. The family asks that you join them in an attire that reflects how you best knew her. A service celebrating Lynn's remarkable life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 13, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Gallatin, MO.
