Marjorie Jean Gentry, age 100, of Mirabile, Missouri, passed away on October 15, 2025, at her home — the same home where she was born. Jean was born on May 20, 1925, the daughter of Robert F. and Elizabeth Dale (McCullough) Carr. She graduated from Mirabile High School in 1942 and soon married Virgil A. Gentry on May 30, 1942. He preceded her in death in March 2008. They were married for 66 years. Jean was a lifelong member of the Mirabile Community Church, where she was a founding member of the Mirabile Ladies Aid. Together, Virgil and Jean owned and operated Gentry Farm Supply for 50 years. She was active in the local 4-H Club and taught cooking and sewing classes, as well as served as a club leader for many years. Along with raising registered Durocs, Virgil and Jean showed across the country and were known internationally, having visitors to the farm from Japan, Mexico, Italy, and Brazil. Jean will be remembered for having an open and welcoming table for everyone who passed through her doors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Eula Robison Gentry; siblings Mildred (Murl) Kearns, Verna (Vern) Cooper, Bob (Norah) Carr; and sister-in-law Nadine Carr; brother and sister-in-law, Von and Mary Gentry; as well as her favorite son-in-law, Morris Claypole.
Survivors include her brother, Dale Carr of Kingston, MO; sons, Allen (Jill) Gentry of Hamilton, Greg (Debbie) Gentry of Ashland and Brad (Sarah) Gentry of Lee’s Summit; daughters, Suzanne Claypole of Polo and Michelle Gentry of Mirabile; grandchildren, Kelly (Angie), Angella Beth, Misty (Jason) , Dayna (Jason), Mark (Jessica), Chad (Alexis), Amy (Dave), Casey (Matt), Lindsey (Drew), Maria (Jonathan), Adam (Shelby) and Nathan; 21 great-grandchildren, Drew, Lilah, Alayna (Logan), Ava, Will, Brett, Tyler, Natalia, Charlotte, Chase, Autumn, Isla, Campbell, Grant, Griffin, Clara, Harper, Gentry, Ella, Kate and one on the way; great-great-grandchild, Willow Jean; nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
Jean’s legacy of faith, family, and hospitality lives on through the generations she nurtured and loved so deeply.
