Marian Larason - age 85 of Gallatin, Missouri passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2024, at her home on Lake Viking. Marian was born on October 11, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth and Cornellia (Evans) King in Mercer County, MO. She was a 1956 graduate of Spickard High School in Spickard, Missouri. Marian obtained a bachelor's degree in education from Truman State. On November 3rd, 1963, she was united in marriage to Norman Larason at the Spickard United Methodist Church, and they made their home in Sibley, Missouri, raising a son and daughter. Marian and Norman retired to Lake Viking in 1998. Following retirement, they spent their next 25 plus years as an antique and "useful junk" dealer, owning the Winston Station Antique Shop. Throughout her life she enjoyed singing in the choir at church and teaching Sunday school at Buckner United Methodist Church and Lake Viking Church. She was a 4H leader for several years. Marian was passionate about her grandchildren, attending all of their activities. She loved to play bridge and attending her Homemaker's Club. Marian was a kind individual who was very positive, and never had a bad thing to say about anything. She always looked for a reason to celebrate and host get togethers with friends and family members. Marian will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Norman. She is survived by her children, Leslie Karr (Grant) of Kansas City, MO and David Larason of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Jared, Colin, Derek, Dane, and Peyton; and siblings, Cathy Oesterling of Kansas City, MO and Wayne King of Gallatin, MO. Nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Active Aging Resource Center in care of the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to Noon, Friday, May 24th, 2024, at the Lake Viking Clubhouse. Private family graveside at Lake Viking Cemetery, Gallatin, Missouri.
