Mae Belle Woodard - age 78 of Lawson, MO and formally of Polo, MO passed away Sunday morning, October 3rd, 2021 at Lawson Manor and Rehab in Lawson. Mae was born on June 12th, 1943 in Arkansas, the daughter of James Roscoe and Nellie Beatrice (Woods) Jones. She grew up in Kewanee, MO in the bootheel and attended school there. Mae was united in marriage to Thomas Woodard and to this union three sons were born. They later divorced. They moved to Mirabile, MO in 1971 and then Polo in 1978. Mae worked as a waitress at Nickerson Farms south of Cameron, MO and as a nurse at the Convalescent Center in Excelsior Springs. She loved gardening and caring for her yard, her home and especially her red roses. Mae kept an immaculate home. She was a great mom and a hard worker that loved people and family, especially her kids and grandkids. Mae was also known to be a prankster. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Willie Richard “Dudder” Jones and Billie Jo Jones. Survivors include: sons, Mike Woodard (Dawn VanGorden) of Polo; Mark (Shari) Woodard of Polo and John Woodard of Polo; grandchildren, Josh, Justina, Whitney, Tanner and Logan; great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kara, Kalyn, Kolt, Lexi, Brixton, Gavin and Kendyl; siblings, James (Sharon) Jones of Sikeston, Eddie (Christy) Jones of Kewanee, Dewey (Joella) Jones of La Forge, Barbara (Kenny) Whitehead of Granite City, Johnny (Tammy) Jones of Kewanee, Bonnie (Russell) Lawson of St. Louis, Sister in law Shirley Jones of Jackson; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the donor's choice. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at the Polo United Methodist Church in Polo. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial to follow at Prairie Ridge Cemetery west of Polo.
