Leona "Johnnie" Lewellen Obituary

 

Leona "Johnnie" Lewellen - age 98 of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away Monday night, May 13th, 2019 at Liberty Hospital. Leona was born on December 16th, 1920 the daughter of John and Ora (Stiles) Pfaff in Berlin Heights, OH.  She was a 1939 graduate of Berlin Heights High School.  November 29th, 1945 in Hawaii.  Leona was a Navy Veteran of World War II.  She enjoyed Campbell’s soup, Ritz Crackers, Little Debbie Coffee Cake, White Cake and Alan’s homemade taco soup.  Leona enjoyed playing Pinochle, Rummy, Crosswords, mowing grass, hunting mushrooms, car ridges grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She attended Salem Christian Union Church. 

Mrs. Lewellen was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Glenn; son, Lawrence Paul Lewellen; son Thomas Glenn Lewellen; son, David Lee Lewellen; daughter, Marian Renee Lewellen; and her siblings.  Survivors include: son, Alan Lewellen of Excelsior Springs, MO; son, Richard (Winette) Lewellen of Lake Ozark, MO; son James (Melody) Lewellen of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Brandy, Wendy, Crystal, Johnathan and Jennifer; great-grandchildren: Bailey, Katy, Samantha, Isabella; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Kingston Cemetery. Funeral Services will be held at noon Saturday, May 18th, 2019 at Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Burial with military honors at Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, MO.
