Lawrence "Larry" Gregory Obituary


Lawrence "Larry"  J. Gregory a.k.a. “Short”- age 87 of Polo, MO passed away on February 15th, 2021 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO. Larry was born on January 14th, 1934 in Altamont, MO the youngest son of Lawrence “Pete” and Martha Fern (DePuy) Gregory.   On January 14th, 1967 he was united in marriage to Linda Murray at the United Methodist Church in Princeton, MO. 
Larry was raised in Altamont, MO until he was 13 years old, when the family moved to Trenton, MO.  He graduated from Trenton High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation, Larry started his career with the Rock Island Railroad, which was later bought out by Chicago Northwestern, and finally Union Pacific Railroad as a signal maintainer for over 44 years, retiring in 1995.  He served as the Mayor of Polo, MO for several  years, and on the Board of Directors for the Caldwell County Ambulance Board for over 25 years. 

Larry enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great-Grandfather.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life.  He would tell you that nothing was more important to him than his family. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Gregory.  Survivors include his wife Linda of the home; daughter, Deb (Rob) Grigsby of Mayview, MO;  3 grandchildren; Joshua (Amanda) Dehn of Richmond, MO, Jordan Dehn of Richmond, MO, and  Rachel Dehn (Stanley Rosekrans) of Mayview, MO, 5 great-grandchildren;  Carson, Isabella, and Oliver Rosekrans and Olivia and Chloe Dehn, and his brother, Billy (Beverly) Gregory of Denver, CO; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.  

Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM,  on Saturday, February 27th, 2021, at The Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo, MO.  Friends may also call from 11 AM to 5 PM, Friday, February 26th, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be private. Flowers are welcomed and appreciated. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell County Cancer Coalition in care of the funeral home.  Burial: Zimmerman Cemetery, Polo, MO.
