Kenneth Dale Meier

Kenneth Dale Meier peacefully passed away holding the hand of his son Chris Meier on June 12, 2026 in Liberty Missouri.  In the recent days he had been continuously surrounded by loved ones. 

Born December 1, 1943, Kenneth was raised in Parsons and Baxter Springs Kansas by his parents Martin Meier and Alma Meier.  He learned lessons of hard work, love for family and a love for Christ.  This guided him to the Kansas City area where he met his wife of 55 years Brenda Joy Meier.  Together they spent the last 41 years in Kearney Missouri raising their two children Kimberly Denise Meier and Christopher Kevin Meier. 

Kenneth worked at the Ford assembly plant in Claycomo, Missouri for 37 years.  The manual labor and long hours took a toll on his body, but he still always found time for his children.  He had a strong desire and push for his children to do better in life than he did.  He wanted to leave the world a better place.  From helping with homework to forcing them to read every morning in the summer before they were allowed out to play, he made sure they valued education.  Kenneth also wanted his children to be well rounded and supported them in all things.  He never missed a chance to watch Kimberly play softball or run cross-country.  He even volunteered his time to mow the cross-country race course through a field adjacent to the high school.  When Christopher began playing soccer, Kenneth dove in head first.  Despite never having played or even watched soccer, he quickly became involved.  He went to every game and took coaching classes.  Before long he was an assistant coach, then a head coach.  His love for the game and his son grew as he became a referee with Christopher. Together they spent every weekend in the spring and fall running up and down the fields playing, coaching and refereeing. His involvement helped push both children to finish high school with honors and both to go on to obtain multiple degrees in college.  None of that would have been possible without his dedication.

Kenneth had a devout dedication to Christ and the Lutheran Church. He faithfully served whatever role he could.  Stewardship, greeter, usher and elder.  He was ready and willing.  Kenneth put Christ first in his life.  He led, helped and followed, whatever Christ needed from him.  He was a constant fixture in the church and the church was a constant part of him.  Through his years he undoubtedly touched numerous lives. 

In recent years dementia had taken many of his memories, but it never took away his upbeat demeanor.  No matter what was going on in his life, he was known for his sunny responses to simple questions like "how are you?".  His responses of "always good", "wonderful" or "superb" lifted those around him.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Joy Meier, his daughter Kimberly Denise and his son Christopher Kevin.  He was the middle of 5 siblings and is survived by his Sister Kathy Mathieu.  

Kenneth was a simple man, but his impact was immeasurable.  He will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church. The family will hold a memorial service at 1 PM Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kearney, MO. A reception will follow also at the church.
