Malinda L. Reed, 62, of California, MO, passed away on February 21, 2023, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born July 5, 1960, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of William E. and Ann (Maxwell) Eckert. Malinda was united in married to Charles Keith Reed on October 4, 1999 and were married for 23 years, before his passing.
Charles Keith Reed, 74, passed away on April 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 12, 1947, in Clarksburg, Missouri, the son of Albert, Sr., and Opal Bolinger Reed.
Malinda graduated from Tri-County R-7, Jamesport, MO, in 1978. Malinda worked at Nic-Nac Cafe, Farmers and Traders Bank, Lincoln University, owned a home cleaning business, and retired in 2018 from the State of Missouri Department of Social Services. She was a member of Jamesport Baptist Church and the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association. Malinda loved growing and sharing her flowers, quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She loved drinking coffee and socializing with family and friends. Malinda's favorite title was "Honey," a name given to her by her grandchildren and used by all. Her grandchildren were her life, and she was known for opening up her home to any and all. Honey never knew a stranger and was very sentimental. Her family remembers her excellent housekeeping skills and her time crafting with grandkids.
Keith graduated from California High School in 1966. Keith owned and operated Reed Construction for many years. After closing his construction company, Keith worked at California High School with the maintenance department until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. He was a classic car enthusiast, loved riding motorcycles with his friends and fishing. He enjoyed spending time being Papa to his grandchildren.
Keith and Malinda are survived by their children, Bryan Reed (Ellen), Wade Reed (Kori), and Matt Reed (Chelsea) and 8 grandchildren, Lucas, Julia, Cadence, McKenzie, Lily, Loryn, Emelia, and Knox;
Malinda is survived by her mother, Ann Eckert of Jamesport; 4 siblings, Melissa Moore (Kenny), Machelle Rageth (Runt), Mike Eckert (Stephanie) and MaDonna Maurer (Uwe); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Malinda was also preceded in death by her husband Keith, her father William Eckert, and a daughter-in-law.
Along with his parents, Keith was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Janet Reed, Jean Johnson, Bonnie Stinson, Emma Kirchhoff; and 1 brother, John Reed.
Keith is also survived by his siblings, Ruby Parkes, Patty Elliott, Albert Reed, Jr., Ronnie Reed, and Donna Kloeppel; and several nieces and nephews.
