Kathryn "Kate" F. Mort

Kathryn "Kate" F. Mort - age 93, lifelong resident of Jamesport, MO passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin. Kathryn was born on September 26, 1932, the daughter of Brooke and Dorothy (Mettle) Stith on the family farm in Section 18 of the Jamesport Township, Daviess County, MO. She was a graduate of Jamesport High School. Kathryn married Kenneth H. Mort on September 26th, 1969, in Jamesport, MO. In addition to raising cattle with Kenneth, Kate worked at the First National Bank in Gallatin and the Daviess County Library. She was a member of the Jamesport United Methodist Church and the Learn and Do Club. Kate enjoyed collecting antiques and glass, and was an avid reader. Kathryn loved to host family meals; she was an outstanding cook. She enjoyed her grandchildren. Kathryn will be dearly missed.

Kathryn was preceded in death by; her parents; son, Walter Wells Jr.; sister, Mary Margaret Ehly; and infant sister, Betty Eileen Stith. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Mort of the home; son, Kraig Mort of Gallatin, MO; two grandchildren, Justin Wells and Colton Wells (Taryn); great-grandchild, Merrick; nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jamesport United Methodist Church or Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
