John W. Cain, Jr. - age 91 of Overland Park, KS passed away Saturday morning, July 12, 2025, at Trustwell Living of Overland Park. John was born on November 5, 1933, the son of John W. and Ruby (Wilder) Cain in Daviess County, MO. He was a graduate of Gallatin High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Paris. John received a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas. He married Beverly A. Cook on March 28th, 1952. John worked many years for Western Electric, AT&T, and retired from Lucent. John and Beverly attended St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Mission, KS. He was a longtime and excellent golfer as well as an avid tennis player. He had a great sense of humor and was very funny. John will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, N. Dale Cain, Betty Yelton, Darrell Cain, Sherry Glor, and Roger Cain. He is survived by his wife, his children, Brian Cain of Olympia, WA and Valerie Nelson of Cedar Rapids, IA, granddaughter, Katherine Nelson of Cedar Rapids, IA, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Civil Bend Christian Cemetery, south of Pattonsburg, MO.
