John C. Shrewsbury - age 55 of Lathrop, MO passed away Wednesday morning, March 10th, 2021 at his home. John was born on February 26th, 1966, the son of Edwin and Janice (Brower) Shrewsbury in St. Joseph, MO. He was a lifelong resident of Lathrop and a 1984 graduate of Lathrop High School. On July 12th, 1986 he was united in marriage to Diane Harrison at the First Christian Church in Lathrop. In addition to farming his whole life, John worked for MODOT and the Missouri Department of Corrections as a diesel mechanics instructor and in maintenance. He held various positions with the State of Missouri over the years. John was a member of the First Christian Church in Lathrop. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado and camping. John was passionate about farming, cattle and cooking. He liked to tinker with mechanics and could fix anything. John was quick witted and always had something unique to say. He enjoyed trap shooting and spending time with family. John will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, father and mother-in-law Al and Lynn Harrison and sister-in-law Teresa Harrison. Survivors include: wife, Diane of the home; parents, Ed and Jan Shrewsbury of Lathrop; children, Megan Shrewsbury of Lathrop, Jacob (Gretchen) Shrewsbury of Excelsior Springs; siblings, Scott (Pam “PJ”) Shrewsbury of Lathrop, Steven (Vicki) Shrewsbury of Lathrop, James (Sarah) Shrewsbury of Austin, TX; one grandchild on the way; brothers-in-law, Ron Harrison of Lawson and David (Chris) Harrison of Kearney; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extend family and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lathrop FFA Chapter in care of the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 6 PM, Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at the First Christian Church in Lathrop, MO. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:30 PM, prior to the service at the church. Friends may sign the register book and pay respects from 10 AM to 3 PM, Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop. Burial at a later date at Lathrop Cemetery in Lathrop, MO.
