Jerry "Luke" Lee Lukehart - age 70 of Gallatin, MO passed away Wednesday evening, November 19, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family. Jerry was born on January 15, 1955, the son of Kenneth and Shirley (Snider) Lukehart in Jamesport, MO. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1974. Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy with lifelong friend Carl Carder on the buddy system. After returning from the Navy he worked for the City of Gallatin Water Department for many years. He later worked for Variform and retired from Trenton Foods. Jerry married Rita Loxterman on February 14th, 1979 and they later divorced. He attended the Gallatin First Christian Church where he dedicated many hours to the church and the Lighthouse Learning Center. Jerry also volunteered for the Gallatin Fire Department and was a founding member of the Jaycees which later became the Gallatin Men's Club.
Jerry was a man of faith. He was known for his love of fishing, antiquing and muscle cars. He had a passion for both NASCAR and dirt track racing. Jerry raced with longtime friend Jim Walker and Jim's brother, David. He was also known for his wonderfully strange humor and mischievous streak, he simply was ornery. Those who knew him will remember his unique spirit with a smile. Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Steven Charles Lukehart and Penny Rea Lukehart. He is survived by sisters, Theresa Schill (Scott) of Warrensburg, MO and Kimberly Cornett (Terry) of Gallatin, MO; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lighthouse Learning Center or Backpack Buddies in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Jerry's life will be held at 7 PM Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Gallatin. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery, near Gallatin.
