James W. Barnes - age 83 of Holt, MO passed away Tuesday morning, February 23rd , 2021 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, MO. James was born on June 12th, 1937 the son of Henry and Ellen (Brubeck) Barnes in Kearney, MO. He grew up in Kearney and Holt, MO and attended school in Kearney. On December 25th, 1958 he was united in marriage to Connie Jean Bartee in Miami, OK. James worked as a trim carpenter. He served the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department and the Missouri Civil Defense. James was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant and quail, and fishing. James was a true family man, making sure his family was properly cared for. He loved his family, especially Connie and his grandchildren. James had a way of teaching life lessons to the younger generation. He will be dearly missed.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; infant son; siblings, Larry Barnes, Glen Barnes, Connie Greer; cousin and friend, Jerry and Bert White. Survivors: children, Kimilia (Rick) Mauk of Grapevine, TX, Roger (Keva) Barnes of Altamont, De Ana (Louis) Seitz of Cameron, Paula (Mark) Delka of Decatur, TX, Lesia (Charles) Kelley of Altamont, Crista Myers of Liberty, Steve (Jennifer) Barnes of Holt; brother, Jack (Sue) Barnes of St. Joseph, MI; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family member also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, March 1st, 2021 at Antioch Cemetery in Holt, MO. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM, the evening prior at Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop.
