James Collier Obituary

James Robert Collier - age 66 of Turney, MO passed away Tuesday morning, September 11th, 2018 at KU Medical Center. He was born on May 9th, 1952 the son of John Robert and Lula Mae Griffin in Willow Springs, MO. James was a 1970 Graduate of Van Horn High School and attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory. On January 8th, 1972 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Helga Ryburn in Independence, MO. They settled on a dairy farm near Turney, MO and raised their family. After retiring from dairy farming, he became a corrections officer at Western Missouri Correctional Facility in Cameron. James enjoyed studying languages, music and reading.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include: wife, Helga of the home; mother, Lula Mae Collier; daughter, Catherine Barfield; son, John (Amy) Collier; grandchildren, Willa and Ellie; brother, Doyle (Sheila) Collier; brother, Michael (Tammy) Collier
