JB Wilson - age 95 of Altamont, MO passed away Tuesday morning, May 18th, 2021 at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton, MO. JB was born on October 29th, 1925 the son of John Foster and Viola Martha (Smith) Wilson in Albany, MO. He was a 1944 graduate of Altamont High School. On August 9th, 1944 he was inducted into the United States Army and served during World War II in Europe. On October 1st, 1945 he was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart Medal. On November 11th, 1944 he was united in marriage to Mary McGinnis in Tyler Texas. Together they made their home on the farm southeast of Altamont. JB was a member of the Altamont United Methodist Church. He was a farmer all his life. JB and Mary enjoyed spending winters in Texas. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker, but supper time always meant it was quitin’ time. JB will be dearly missed.
JB was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; siblings, Francis Johnson, John Wilson and Bernard Wilson. Survivors include daughter, Judy (Curtis) Taylor of Blue Springs; son, Jerry (Michelle) Wilson of Altamont; son, Larry (Robin) Wilson of Altamont; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Altamont United Methodist Church or to the family to be distributed among JB's caregivers. Funeral Service: 2 PM, Friday, May 21st, 2021 at the Altamont United Methodist Church, Altamont, MO. Visitation: One-hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call after 11 AM Thursday (5/20) at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors to follow the services at Mt. Ayr Cemetery, Altamont, MO.
