Irma Lou Turner - age 86, longtime Lathrop, MO resident passed away Sunday night, November 8th, 2020 at Redwood of Cameron, MO due to COVID-19. Irma was born on September 23rd, 1934 the daughter of Lawrence and Velda (Housh) Spor in Missouri City, MO. She grew up and attended school at Missouri City. On May 15th, 1953 she was united in marriage to Marvin Gene Turner in rural Excelsior Springs, MO. They made their home on the farm in Lathrop in 1964 where she resided until her passing. She was a member of Siloam Springs Baptist Chapel in Excelsior Springs. Irma was a devoted Christian. She sold Avon, held various factory jobs and worked on the family farm. Irma did an outstanding job “raising the boys”, who describe her as “one of the sweetest ladies you’d ever meet and the best momma we ever had.” She was a member of the Red Hatters Organization and Rebekahs Independent order of Odd Fellows. Irma loved ceramics and had a ceramic business with her husband. She loved her children and grandchildren. Irma will be dearly missed.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by many friends and relatives including four sons, Tim Turner (Phyllis), Kenny Tuner, Joe Turner (Eva Russell), all of Lathrop, and Gary Turner (Mary), Weatherby Lake, MO; 7 grandchildren, Tim, Jeremy, Jerrod, Samuel, Matthew, Natalie and Jackson; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Spor of Newland, NC and sisters Flora Ann King of Lawson, MO and Linda McDaniel of Excelsior Springs, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri City Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Graveside service: 3 PM, Saturday, November 14th, 2020, Missouri City Cemetery, Missouri City, MO. All are welcome to attend. The family requests all attendees wear a mask covering their nose and mouth. Due to the pandemic there is no scheduled family visitation.
