Irene Kay Culter - age 69 of Gallatin, MO, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 22, 2022, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Irene, along with her twin sister, was born on December 2, 1952, the daughter of Elbert Paul and Martha (Lee) Ackley near Albany in rural Gentry County, MO. She was a graduate of Stanberry High School. Irene enjoyed making crafts and crocheting. She liked to garden and canned what she grew. Irene enjoyed country music. She last worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO. She loved to cook and was known for her delicious desserts. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Gallatin. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by one son, Bruce Petty; her parents; father of her son, David Lee Culter; father of her daughter, Lloyd Herbert Petty; great-nephews, Devin Smith and Tristan Ackley; niece, Amy Abrams. She is survived by daughter, Cynthia (Petty) Jennings and her husband Greg of De Kalb, MO; son, Steven Culter and his wife Stephanie of Cowgill, MO; 3 grandchildren; twin sister, Ileene (Ackley) Lager and her husband Tom Lager of Rayville, MO; sister, Linda (Ackley) Collins and her husband Dennis of Winston, MO; brother, Dudley Ackley and his wife Cindy (Hill) Ackley of Gentry, MO; brother, Eddie Ackley and his wife Cindy Ackley of Gentry, MO; sister, Elva Larraine (Ackley) Carter and her husband Jerry of Lathrop, MO; brother, Brian Ackley and his wife Rhodera of Stanberry, MO and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Cynthia Jennings in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on March 28, 2022, at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
