Helen Lucille Dickinson, age 104, of Gallatin Missouri passed away on Thursday morning, May 14, 2026 at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin.
Lucille was born on January 25, 1922 in Clay Center, Nebraska, the daughter of Roy Casper Terry and Alma Iola (Oxford) Terry. The family moved back to Missouri when she was 4 years old and attended Smith and Old Scotland Schools until she graduated from Jamesport High School in 1939. At 14 years of age, she was a member of the Old Scotland Church of Christ; then the Church of Christ at Gallatin for 74 years. On July 9th, 1941, she married Junior Silvan Dickinson in Gallatin. She was a farm wife and homemaker helping in the fields and taking care of the animals, raising a garden and flowers. Following Juniors passing in 1981 she remained a devoted widow for 45 years, continuing to cherish the life and memories they built together around faith, family, farming.
Moving from the farm in Carlow in 1983 to Gallatin, she loved her family and treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Known affectionately as “Grandma D” to many in the Gallatin Bulldog Community, Lucille’s warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit, touched countless lives for over 8 generations.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Junior Dickinson, siblings Mary Ellen Maples, Gertrude Cook, and Leroy Terry. She is survived by her son Dr. Larry (Patty) Dickinson of Gallatin MO, grandchildren Kari Jaye Genenbacher of Mesa AZ, and Patrick Miller (Ashley) Dickinson of Austin TX; and great grandchildren Reese, Rhett, and Miller. A host of family, friends, and neighbors survive and remember she felt all worries could be helped by the Love of the Lord and some of Gram’s apple dumplings.
