Harriet Louise Leopard - age 90, of Gallatin, MO, passed from this life on Monday afternoon, December 23, 2019 at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin, MO. She was born on October 24, 1929 the daughter of Harry E. and Jessie A. (Thompson) Noll. Harriet was born on a farm one mile southwest of Jamesport, MO where she was reared and attended public school. Harriet graduated from Jamesport High School in 1947.
On October 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Leopard of Gallatin. They became the parents of three sons.
Harriet resided in Gallatin for most of her 72 years of marriage except when they lived in Unionville, MO from 1969 to 1976. She was a former member of DAR, Chapter “A”, PEO while living in Unionville and Chapter “BQ” of Gallatin. However, her main interest and favorite activity was knitting. Harriet made many sweaters, covers and Christmas stockings for numerous youths which was her passion. She had many tools and had a skill for carpentry and plumbing. One Gallatin attorney described her as a “power.” There will never be another Harriet. She will be missed by many.
Mrs. Leopard was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Elinor Gates; sister, Ruth Pellham and sister, Ida Beth Nowland. Survivors include husband, John Leopard of the home; son, Lynn(Marsha) Leopard of Chillicothe, MO; son, Ellis Leopard of Las Cruces, NM; son, Craig (Mary) Leopard of Maryland Heights, MO; grandchildren: Matthew (Katie) Leopard of Des Moines, IA; Nathan (Jenn) Leopard of State College, PA; Hayley (Tom) Brockman of Smithville, MO; great-grandchildren: Jonas Leopard; Jack and Caroline Leopard; Barrett Brockman. Other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hillcrest Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Graveside services: 3 PM, Monday, December 30th, 2019, Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin, MO. Visitation: one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9 AM, Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin.
