Harold Lee Hubbard- a devoted father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away peacefully in Purdys, New York, on May 23, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 2, 1932, Harold was raised on a farm in Lathrop, MO, where he graduated from Lathrop High School. He went on to study engineering at the University of Missouri before serving his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. During his service, he was stationed aboard the USS Boyd and later served as a radio mechanic at the U.S. Naval Communications Facility in the Philippines.
Following his military service, Harold earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Business School in 1960. He spent his career as a sales engineer in consumer electronics at BFI International in New York City. He was also a proud member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mauricette Hubbard; his mother, Ora Lee Newman-Hubbard, a dedicated teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Lathrop; his father, Andrew Forest Hubbard, a corporal in the 1st Missouri Field Artillery during World War I; and his brother, Dr. Forest Craven Hubbard, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his son, Eric Andrew Hubbard and wife Christie of Rockville Centre, NY; his daughter, Dr. Vanessa Marie Hubbard-Lucey and husband Neil of Bedford, NY; and his cherished grandchildren, Charlotte and Shea Hubbard, and Morgan Lucey. He also leaves behind his nephews, Dr. Richard F. Hubbard and wife Mary of Burke, VA, Dr. Philip L. Hubbard and wife Dovie of California, and Dr. John D. Hubbard and wife Cynthia of Kansas City, MO, along with grandnephews Mark, Steven, Jeffrey, and Bradley Hubbard. Harold had a love of reading, particularly topics related to history, science, and politics. He will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and country. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled.
