Grace Lea (Eichler) Greenawalt
February 22, 1926 - May 26, 2026
Grace Lea (Eichler) Greenawalt - age 100 of Braymer, MO passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2026 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer.
Grace was born the daughter of Virgil and Ruth (Burnett) Eichler in Braymer, Mo. She graduated from Braymer C-4 High School in 1944 and moved to Kansas City, MO and was employed at Commerce Bank and later at Linde Air in North Kansas City. On March 19, 1947 she was united in marriage to Clifford J. “Pete” Greenawalt in Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2014. To this union a daughter, Vickie Sue Greenawalt Hunt was born.
Grace and Pete began their married life in Elmira, Mo., where they farmed. While living in Elmira, Grace was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Lawson, MO and a member of the Mound Merry Minglers of Lathrop, MO. On July 23, 1957 Grace and Pete moved to Braymer, MO to the farm where Grace was raised. After moving to Braymer Grace and Pete were avid campers. They loved to go camping and were members of several camping clubs. Grace was a member of the South Victory Club and The Pleasant Hill Lyons Club. For several years she was on the Caldwell County Nutrition Board. Grace was a member of the Baptist Church of Braymer, MO.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Hunt and husband Brian of Braymer, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brad Hunt and wife Rachel of Braymer, Missouri, Kasey Wallace of Sidney, Iowa and four great grandchildren, Brenden and Rebecca Hunt of Braymer, Missouri and Hallie Grace and Morgan Wallace of Sidney, Iowa.
Grace loved her Savior, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her Golden Age Nursing Home family. She loved this life she lived. She never met a stranger and loved to visit with anyone. She was strong, determined, caring and loyal and she conquered life in her 100 plus years on this Earth. Grace will be always loved, never forgotten and forever missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Golden Age Nursing Home in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Grace's remarkable life will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, May 11, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Braymer. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the services at Braymer Evergreen Cemetery.
