George A. Pontious

George A. Pontious - age 83 of Virginia Beach, VA and formerly of Gallatin, MO, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024,at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach. George was born on June 21, 1941, the son of George Aruthur and Ava Christine (Scholl) Pontious in Long Beach, CA. He grew up in Long beach. and graduated from high school there. George served 20 years in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He married Callista "Kelly" Marie Klocker on February 15th, 1975, at Lowry Air Force Base near Denver, CO. In 1979, the family moved to Gallatin. He obtained a bachelor's degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1984 and taught at local schools.  George had served as the Commander of the Gallatin VFW Post.

George was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kelly; son, Daryl Pontious; a brother and 2 sisters. He is survived by his children, Jim Pontious (Sabine) of MD and Will Pontious of Virginia Beach, VA;  Christine Strong (Robert) of Chico, TX; four grandchildren and other extended family members also survive.
