Genola "Peachy" Karen Reed - age 88 of Milliken, CO and formerly a longtime resident of Gallatin passed away Wednesday afternoon on January 21, 2026 at Pathways Inpatient Care Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. Karen was born on September 28, 1937, the daughter of Quentin Van and Evelyn Alice (Tarwater) Smith in Gallatin, MO. She married William John Reed, Jr. on Saturday, May 21st, 1955, in Gallatin, Missouri. While Bill was in the Airforce for 23 years, they lived in Florida, Texas, France, North Carolina and the Panama Canal Zone. Karen was a graduate of Wiltons Cake Decorating School in Chicago. She and Bill owned Karen’s Kake Kastle and Bakery in Gallatin for over ten years where they made donuts and cakes. Both Karen and Bill were the Directors of the Adventist Community Service Center where they enjoyed volunteering in the thrift shop, Daviess County Food Bank and Daviess County Commodities. Karen was deeply committed to Jesus, her family and the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She will be dearly missed.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill R; two sisters, Karla Salmon and Patricia Huston and half-sister, Majiel Gibbar. She is survived by her children, Kathy Lynn Pedroza (David) of Riverside, CA, Dennis Michael Reed (Stephanie) of Milliken, CO, Robert Quentin Reed of Gilroy, CA, and Patricia Carol Thompson (Charlie) of Arcadia, IN; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; cousins, Jennalea Ferrell of Atwood, CO, Dennis Walton of Pleasant Hill, MO and Kathryn Gunn of Woodword, OK; John Tarwater of Cameron and Tara (Alan) Tairent of Cameron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Gallatin Community Service Center in care of the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at the Gallatin First Christian Church. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church.
