Geneva Mae Johnson - age 93 of Jameson, MO passed away Tuesday evening, September 17, 2024, at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin, MO. Geneva was born on May 18, 1931, the daughter of Albert and Enola (Mitchell) McCulley in Spickard, MO. She spent her early years in Spickard and Galt, before moving to Gallatin and graduating from Gallatin High School in 1949. She began working at Harlow Drug Store at a very young age. She married Robert Johnson in 1952 in Gallatin. Geneva was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker and farm wife while raising their two children. She started working for the Jameson Post Office in 1977 and retired as the postmaster at the Gallatin Post Office in 2000. Geneva was a member of the Jameson Christian Church and the Jameson Christian Women's Fellowship. Becoming a grandmother was a joy for Geneva; her grandchildren were number one! She truly loved life on the farm where she gardened. Geneva was hardworking and independent. Geneva will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob and siblings, Lowell McCulley and Maxine Hill Knight. She is survived by her children, Randy Johnson (Karen) of Gallatin, MO and Cindy Johnson (Chris Cockrill) of Smithville, MO; grandchildren, Nathan Cockrill (Cheyenne) of Smithville, MO, Bailey Daniel (Drake) of Bethany, MO, Beau Johnson (Cat) of St. Joseph, MO, and Ally Jo Holmes (Riley) of Gower, MO; great-grandchildren, Beckham, Eila, Haisley, and Worth; siblings, Veda Anderson of Sedalia, MO and Ronald McCulley (Lillian) of Belleville, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Grand River Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Geneva's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grand River Cemetery in Jameson.
