Gary E. Horinek - age 73 of Kidder, MO passed away Tuesday morning, April 4, 2023, at his home in rural Kidder. Gary was born on March 15, 1950, the son of Edward and Florence (Kantor) Horinek in Colby, KS. He was a 1968 graduate of Winona High School . He married Mary Russell on May 30th, 1998, in Hoxie, KS. Gary was the mayor of Hoxie, KS for a number of years. He was a journeyman lineman for Midwest Energy for over 20 years. Gary was the ultimate outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising a garden and chickens. He also enjoyed making wine. Family was very important to him, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids; he enjoyed spending time with all of them. Gary was also a craftsman and enjoyed making things. He built his retirement home in western Missouri, with the help of his family. Gary will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary, of the home; children, Jason Horinek (Natalie) of Kidder, MO, Cory Horinek of Topeka, KS, ReChelle Horinek (Dusty Spresser) of Selden, KS, Nathan Horinek of Goodland, KS; stepchildren, John Morris (Peggy) of Riverview, FL, and Kristine Morris (Maryann) of New Berlin, NY; grandchildren, Hayden (Kelsey), Ryley (Caroline), Wyatt, Lane, Samantha, Dominic, Cole, Ashley (Jesse), Chase (Gabi), Jared, and Aubriella; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Horning (Stan) of Gaylord, KS, Robbie Kraus (Bob) of Wray, CO, Shelly Brock (Bob) of Monument, KS, and Tony Horinek (Anita) of Levant, KS; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
