Gary Duane Pollard

Gary Duane Pollard - age 80, a lifelong resident of Polo, MO passed away Monday morning, October 30, 2023, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri. Gary was born on April 7, 1943, the son of Floyd Thomas and Zella Pauline (Burnell) Pollard in Polo. He was a 1961 graduate of Polo High School. Gary was united in marriage to Carolyn Shanks on September 4th, 1965, at the Polo Christian Church. Gary was a member of the Prairie Ridge Church. In addition to farming alongside his father and son, he worked at Reynolds Chevrolet Dealership in Richmond and retired from the Polo School District as a custodian; a job he enjoyed and formed many friendships. He had a great work ethic and was dedicated.  Gary also served as a member of the Polo School District Board of Education. He was ornery and had a great sense of humor. Gary wasn't the first one to start a conversation, but he enjoyed visiting with friends, acquaintances and strangers; he was an excellent communicator. Gary left an example for many to admire; he was proud of his family, and they were proud of him.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carolyn. He is survived by his daughter, Cary Denault (Douglas) of Bloomington, IL; son, Kevin Pollard (Wendy) of Oklahoma City, OK; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Moss of Hamilton, MO and Judy Gentry of Polo, MO. Nieces, nephews, and other extended family also survive.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Prairie Ridge Church in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at Prairie Ridge Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Prairie Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 AM to 5 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
