Gail Lynn (Prettyman) Summers

Gail Lynn (Prettyman) Summers- age 69, of Lathrop, MO passed away Wednesday night September 21, 2022, with all of her family present at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Gail was born on December 9th, 1952, to William Elliott and Shirley Dean (Coates) Prettyman in Kansas City, MO. She was a 1971 graduate of Oak Park High School.  Gail married Stafford Summers Jr. on October 5th   1977 in Oklahoma City, OK. Gail worked as a phone operator and secretary after high school. Gail always adored children and used that passion to work for The Department Of Secondary Education as a para for special needs children. She then found her passion for the restaurant industry and began waiting tables. She worked at El Sombraro in Claycomo, MO, then Jose’s/El Guapos in Holt, Mo for many years. Every customer loved her and felt like family.  They lived in Gladstone, Mo until 1989 when they moved to Lathrop, Mo.  They went on to making a beautiful legacy of 5 children and 11 grandchildren, that is very plentiful. The love Gail had for her children and grandchildren is incomparable. They were all her pride and more so, her joy in life.  She was a beautiful, intelligent, big hearted, loving and selfless soul who had a sense of humor and style that all who met her would instantly adore. Her goodbyes on the phone would take 10 minutes because how many times she and her children would say they loved each other, then remember another story to tell.  She loved to spend time with her mother and children/ grandchildren. She liked to play bingo and go to the Casino occasionally, and loved to talk “sports talk” with her son and son in law Nick.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Stafford Summers Jr. of Lathrop, MO, her children, Synda Lorena Summers-Sanstra of Gladstone, MO, Shauna Lyn Norton (Scott) of Liberty MO, Amber Nicole Summers of Lathrop, MO, Andrea Deanna Laes (Nick), of Flagstaff, AZ, Camden Stafford Summers III (Roxy) of Lathrop MO. And her beautiful grandchildren whom she adored with her heart and soul, Gage Schwery, Zoey and Zander Carter, Brystol, Indy and Daytona Sanstra, Trevor and Allison Norton, Connor, Charlotte and Charlie Laes. This isn’t Goodbye... As mama always said, “Love you to pieces” and “To the moon and back”. We can’t wait till we see you again. XOXO
