Freddy Martin

Freddy Martin – age 84 of Chillicothe, MO and formerly of Jamesport, MO passed away Monday afternoon, August 26th, 2019 at Indian Hills – A Stonebridge Community in Chillicothe.  Freddy was born September 27th, 1934 the son of Paul and Gladys (Sloan) Martin in Jamesport, MO.  He attended a country school in rural Jamesport.  He was married to Shirley Baxter on March 27th, 1955 in Jamesport.  The couple made their home on a farm near Jamesport where they raised their four children and worked on the farm.  Freddy worked as a dairy farmer, row cropped and owned and operated a large tree spade and landscape business.  Freddy was a part of the FFA Chapter and a member of the Jamesport Lion’s Club.  Freddy was selected to represent Daviess County in the annual Farmers Home Administration’s Farm Family of the Year. Freddy enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.  He loved his grandchildren who held a special place in his heart.  His family will miss him dearly.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Shirley Martin; brother, Bill Martin; brother, A.G. Martin; sister, Mary Francis Ensign; sister, Pauline Scammahorn.  Survivors include: special friend, Donna Jobe; son, Jerry Martin; son, Jon (Melanie) Martin; daughter, Susan (Jerome) Davis; son, Stephen (Kathy) Martin; grandchildren: Jeffrey Martin, Ashley Stover, Lydia Martin, Linnea Martin, Taylor Davis, Andrew Davis, Austin Martin, Tara Martin and 3 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 30th, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin.  Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service (1:00 PM).  Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 AM Thursday.  Interment will follow at Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin.
